I recently spent a great day cruising around Okinawa with my camera, three wedding dresses and Jovi (An awesome model here in Okinawa). We had the idea to mix my art, a bridal motif and high fashion style shooting and create something not only beautiful but that would also promote Okinawa as a destination location for pre-wedding and post wedding photo shoots.
For the first dress we decided to work in an urban setting, starting at Depot Island ( a very unique open style department store here in Okinawa, which is available as a location for a fee of 25,000-30,000yen) and then we moved on to some surrounding areas.
From there we changed to dress number 2 and went for a more natural location, one of my favorite places to shoot here in Okinawa as it is rarely busy and offers both a river and forest location with out the need to travel far from the road, perfect for a bride in a dress and a photographer carrying heavy camera gear and lights…lol.
For our 3rd and final destination we decided it was time to go for a park and beach location and just for fun we thought we may as well trash a dress, this was so much fun, but also a real challenge to keep my Nikon d800 dry while waist deep in water, standing on slippery rocks and dealing with the odd wave, but, here is what we came up with.
